The Fundamentals of Breath Work

We are hearing about ‘Breath work’ left, right and centre these days, however, controlling the breath is not a modern fad but has brought the Eastern practice of Pranayama, breath control and retention techniques to the Western mainstream. Breath work can be life changing and I believe (as many do) that is the ultimate key to our well-
being.
But what exactly does it entail?
It is exactly as it sounds, working the breath or breathing on purpose or conscious breathing. Of course, we are all expert breathers, we do it every second of every day, have been doing all of our lives and we’re still alive right!? Nailed it, right!?
But are we breathing functionally, optimally, vibrantly? The answer to this is that it’s unlikely for the majority of us. Modern living just doesn’t seem to serve our well-being in this respect. The amazing news however is that we can take back control.
Breath work is the simplest yet most effective tool to get away from the busyness of your own ‘mind stuff’ and to find harmony and balance in your thinking brain and in your body. In fact the respiratory system is the one bodily system that we can control once we know how. The knock on effects to our other bodily systems such as the digestive, endocrine, circulatory systems etc can be hugely profound all thanks to the magic that can take place in the nervous system.
It can quite literally transform your quality of life encompassing the emotional, physical, mental and spiritual (if that’s your vibe).
Maybe you are suffering from an ongoing respiratory condition, wanting to improve athletic performance, looking for tools and solutions to help with depression, anxiety, sleep issues, general mood, a lack of mojo, fatigue, a seemingly inability to relax or you want to meditate but don’t know how to start. Maybe you are just curious to understand your breath, your body your nervous system a little more. Whatever sparked your curiosity to look at this post and read the details, I would love to share this offering with you.
This 4 week breath work course has been devised (every Saturday at 10:00am through October) to guide you through this journey of the breath. You will leave with ‘forever’ tools to help regulate the nervous system (is different ways as and when needed) and a better understanding of your body, your needs and how to tend attentively to them.
The investment for this course is £44 (I will provide the tea) no equipment needed other than the noses on your beautiful little faces and your soon to be happier minds and bodies.
